Wynn's Coonawarra Estate 1996 Coonawarra Shiraz ($10.99)Very dark ruby. Ripe, fresh raspberry scent -- startlingly akin to a Zinfandel -- with pleasant earthy and floral notes. Full, juicy and bright, raspberries and "sweet" new oak that becomes increasingly evident as the wine opens in the glass. Definitely a gulping wine, fine with chicken, burgers or steaks. (Feb. 12, 1999)
FOOD MATCH: Good quaff with roast chicken.
