Zaca Mesa 1997 Santa Barbara County "Z" Gris ($5.99) Best buy!Continuing the seasonal investigation into good, dry rosé wines that I began with last week's report, Two summery dry pinks, we come to this tasty and startlingly inexpensive pink from Southern California, a crisp summer sipper offering such value that it rates as a "best buy." Clear and rather light, a rosy salmon hue, it offers pleasant light berry and herbal scents. Crisp, juicy and dry, good berry flavors are balanced by snappy citric acidity, with herbal notes in a medium-long finish. (May 19, 1999)
FOOD MATCH: Excellent quaff with mildly spicy bean-and-cheese burritos.
