Bonny Doon 1997 Vin Gris de Cigare California Pink Wine ($9.49)
Clear, dark copper with an orange hue, dark for a rosé. Light floral and herbaceous scent, odd but pleasant, reminiscent of herbal tea. Crisp, fruity and dry, tartly acidic, invites gulping on a hot summer evening but with the substance to accompany food. Contains Syrah, Grenache, Mourvèdre, Cinsaut and Sangiovese grapes. FOOD MATCH: Fine with a spicy Szechwan-style lamb and scallion stir-fry.
