Penfolds 1995 Koonunga Hill South Australia Shiraz-Cabernet Sauvignon ($9.99)
Very dark reddish-purple. Spicy oak dominates ripe red fruit aromas. Mouth-filling, juicy fruit and lemony acidity with a shake of black pepper on the palate. Pleasant enough, but simple, sort of "Beaujolais-style," seems more one-dimensional than the dollar-cheaper Penfolds Clare Valley Cab/Shiraz we enjoyed last week.
