Chateau Norbert 1996 Cotes de Bourg ($9.99)
Dark garnet color. Spicy oak aromas dominate simple black fruit. Good, juicy
black-cherry flavor, better on the palate than the nose predicts; full and
tart in a long, clean finish. The tart acidity and ripe fruit make it a
particularly good match with thick pork chops braised in a quick sauce of
fresh Roma tomatoes and sage. It's 100 percent Merlot and "unfiltered,"
according to the label info. Importer: Kysela Pere et Fils Ltd., Winchester,
Va. (Sept. 15, 1997)
