Jean-Louis et Emmanuel Grillet 1995 "Chateau Monichot" Cotes de Bourg ($12.99) Despite the chateau name, this is evidently a negociant wine, not estate-bottled. It's a decent quaff, though: Very dark garnet, with caramel and cassis aromas, simple but pleasant. Flavors follow the nose, juicy black fruit that seems soft at first but gains structure from lemon-squirt acidity as it crosses the palate. Light but perceptible tannins hover in the background. Importer: Kysela Pere et Fils Ltd., Winchester, Va. (Sept. 16, 1997)
